What are veneers ?

Dental veneers are thin covers that attach to teeth to give teeth a more classically shaped look. Veneers are made of porcelain, a thin shell custom-made to fit on the tooth. Or composite resin made from a tooth-coloured filling material bonded to the tooth. Veneers can be used to treat a number of different cosmetic concerns, including chipped, broken, discoloured, or smaller-than-average teeth.

Dental veneers are a probable and popular solution to help those with chipped teeth, a gap between teeth, or misshaped teeth. They assist you in achieving your desired look.

You should brush and floss your veneer just as you would your regular teeth, and it is best to use non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. Remember that veneers will need to be replaced eventually, no matter how well you take care of them.

Which type of veneer is best?

How do you know which type of veneer is best for you? You’ll want to consider several factors:

  • Cost
  • length of time of the installation process
  • The appearance of the veneer
  • Longevity of the veneer
  • Your dentist’s recommendation

What are the different types of veneers?

  • Porcelain veneers

When the porcelain veneer is made and moulded out from a lab, the veneer is ready; your dentist can place it on your prepared tooth and cement it in place. Temporary veneer may be used until the permanent veneer come back from the lab.

Meanwhile, other dentists may use CAD/CAM technology so a computer can design the veneer. Your dentist can make the actual veneer right there in the office.

  • Composite resin veneers

If you choose composite resin veneer, your dentist will etch the surface of your tooth before applying a thin layer of the composite material to your prepared tooth.

Additional layers of the composite may be necessary to achieve your intended look. Your dentist will finish by curing or hardening the composite veneer with a special light.

  • No-prep veneers

These include options like Lumineers and Vivaneers, which are specific brands of porcelain veneers. They take less time and are less invasive to apply.

Instead of removing layers of the tooth under the enamel, no-prep veneer only affect the enamel. No-prep veneer often don’t require local anesthetics or temporary veneer.

Clove dental practices offer a variety of dental veneer options to choose from.
